POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Labor Educator
Position:
The Labor Education Service (LES), Industrial Relations Center, University of Minnesota, seeks a Labor Educator. This
is an Academic Professional Staff vacancy.
Duties include:
- Developing, teaching and administering labor education courses and programs primarily throughout the
State of Minnesota;
- Designing and developing curriculum and instructional materials;
- Working with other LES staff in program development;
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with labor organizations and their members and with
other community groups in the service of effective programming;
- Integrating issues of diversity into all of the above.
- Travel, weekend and evening work required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have the following:
- Knowledge of and a demonstrated commitment to the labor movement;
- Experience with and knowledge of diversity issues;
- Experience teaching/training in subjects related to the labor movement;
- At least a Master's Degree (or completing the final stages of a Master's Program).
Other Qualifications:
Additional consideration will be given for applicants with:
- Experience in labor education;
- Knowledge of globalization and new workforce issues;
- Bilingual abilities;
- Knowledge of labor economics or political economy;
- Skills in surveying and/or applied research techniques;
- Experience with and/or ability to teach labor organizing both internal and external;
- Ability to assist and/or teach labor organizations about strategic campaign planning;
- PhD or other terminal degree;
- Women and persons of color strongly encouraged to apply.
