The Department of Sociology, University of Toronto at Mississauga, invites applications for two tenure-stream positions
at
the rank of Assistant Professor commencing 1 July 2004. Applicants should have graduate training in social theory and
research methods and specialization in any of the following areas: family/gender, globalization/technology, law and society,
social policy. A Ph.D. in Sociology or a closely cognate field related to any of the areas of specialization is required.
Candidates must have an excellent research and teaching record.
The appointment is at the University of Toronto at Mississauga (UTM), which is a research-intensive institution having an
interdisciplinary commitment, a multicultural student body, and a modern and spacious campus. The University of Toronto

offers opportunities to work in a range of collaborative programs and centres of research, including the program in
Communication, Culture and Information Technology, the Munk Centre for International Studies and many others.
Successful candidates will be members of the Graduate Department of Sociology, University of Toronto and will be
expected
to teach in the graduate program on the downtown campus as well as in the undergraduate program in Mississauga.
