POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Loyola University New Orleans, LA. The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant
Professor position beginning August 1, 2006. We are looking for candidates with primary specializations in global
sociology, Latin American/Latino studies, and social inequality. Preference will also be given to those applicants with
secondary areas of concentration in one or more of the following: applied sociology, social policy, and quantitative methods.
Candidates must be committed to excellence in undergraduate, liberal arts education and show evidence of outstanding
teaching, research, and community service for tenure. The department has a strong commitment to teaching students to think
critically about social justice principles and their realization in the community. Completion of the Ph.D. is required by time
of appointment. Salary and benefits are competitive. Applicants should send a letter describing their teaching and research
interests, a brief statement of their personal educational philosophy, a current curriculum vitae, and three letters of reference.
