POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Texas A&M University. The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant
professor level beginning in September 2006. We seek to fill this position with a candidate specializing in social
organization with the ability to teach the survey graduate seminar in the sociology of complex organizations. We welcome
broadly trained applicants whose theoretically informed approaches to comprehending complex organizations will
contribute to the goal of critically examining the relationship between complex organizations and other dimensions of
society. The ideal candidate will have theoretical and substantive interests in complex organizations that reinforce the
existing departmental strength in the area of social organization and social change, which includes research on the
corporation, democracy, globalization, political sociology, social movements, stratification, and work. Competitive
applicants will have strong potential for success in publishing and graduate teaching and will have completed the PhD by
the time of their appointment. Candidates should submit a letter of introduction describing their current research and
teaching interests, a Curriculum Vitae, examples of scholarly work, and evidence of teaching experience and effectiveness.
In addition, they should arrange for three letters of reference. Applications received by October 31, 2005 will be
given full consideration. Review of applications will begin November 1 and continue until the position is filled. Address
