POST-DOC POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
==> Assist in the development and management of the Michigan Trucking Industry Program, including its safety
benchmarking program, by conducting trucking industry research and identifying best practices.
==> Interact with stakeholders and serve as liaison with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including:
owner-drivers, motor carriers and their investors, highway users, and public policy makers.
==> Conduct literature reviews and writing critical summary reviews of public policy issues concerned about the efficient
flow of freight in a globally interdependent marketplace.
==> Draft reports to funding agencies and affiliate companies, and produce scholarly papers for publication.
==> Prepare educational presentations for trucking industry shows, meetings, or conferences.
==> Participate in proposal development, which will include identifying funding sources, responding to requests for
proposals, developing research questions, and designing research methods and data collection procedures.
==> Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
==> PhD in Industrial or Labor Relations, Economics, Business, Transportation Policy or Planning is required, with
emphases in related areas such as transportation, operations management, business logistics, or transportation
planning.
==> Strong working knowledge of quantitative social science research methods and related software (e.g. SPSS, SAS,
Stata), database management, and survey development.
==> Strong problem resolution, organizational, & analytical skills; ability to collaborate effectively.
==> Fluent English oral and written communication skills.
==> Competency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
==> Variety of analytical techniques addressing research challenges, proposal preparation skills, scholarly journal
authorship, and report development skills.
==> Co-authored articles in refereed scholarly journals.
Starting Date: Immediately
Salary: TBD
Term: 12 month, renewable upon mutual agreement and available funding
