Social Sciences Department
Purdue University North Central
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
The Social Sciences Department of Purdue University North Central (PNC), a regional campus of Purdue University
located near Westville in the northern part of Indiana, has two job openings that might be of interest. The Social Sciences
Department is a multidisciplinary department that includes Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Political Science, History
and Philosophy: currently, there are three sociologists on staff.
These positions should be of interest to those who highly value teaching (although research and community involvement
are required as well). This is a small, four year campus--3700 students--that is growing. This gives the opportunity to have
close contact with students--Intro classes are capped at 40 students, with upper division courses usually 12-20, unless
required for graduation. PNC provides mainly bachelor programs, but has a couple of masters program established with
several more in the works.
Incidentally, for those concerned with location, you CAN commute from Chicago, which is where I live.
