Institute for Research on Labor and Employment
The UCLA College of Letters and Science invites applications for the position of Director, Institute for Research on Labor
and Employment, an organized research unit at UCLA (www.irle.ucla.edu). The candidate should be an outstanding senior
scholar who is recognized as a leader in the study of labor and employment. The Director will lead the UCLA Institute for
Research on Labor and Employment, which involves but is not limited to: (1) Setting a research agenda for the institute;
(2) Convening UCLA faculty from a wide range of campus departments and professional schools; (3) Further developing
the undergraduate teaching program in Labor Studies; and (4) Managing the Institute's internal units and relations with key
off-campus stakeholders.
Someone who is not currently a member of the UCLA faculty would hold a tenured faculty appointment in one of the UCLA
social science departments (www.sscnet.ucla.edu/college).
Applications will be reviewed starting on November 1, 2007, but will be accepted until the position is filled, with
the goal of making an appointment starting July 1, 2008. Applicants should submit a personal statement covering their
vision for the institute, administrative experience and scholarly expertise, as well as a curriculum vitae and list of references
(with appropriate contact information).
