The Department of Sociology invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor, tenure- track/tenured, to begin Fall
2008. Preference will be given to candidates who can contribute to our new concentration in urban/labor studies.
Additional concentration areas in the department are family/aging, social inequalities, and medical. The ability to teach
methods and/or statistics at the graduate level is also desirable but is not a necessary qualification for this position. A Ph.D.
is expected at the time of employment. Wayne State University is a CARNEGIE DOCTORAL/RESEARCH EXTENSIVE
INSTITUTION. The department has strong links to the Walter P. Reuther Library of Labor and Urban Studies, Institute
of Gerontology, the School of Medicine, and other institutes and centers on campus. The metropolitan Detroit area offers
