SAC Department Head Search, Eastern Michigan University
Eastern Michigan University's Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminology seeks a Department Head,
beginning on or about July 1, 2008. The Department, which comprises 20 full-time faculty members, offers Bachelor's and
Master's Degrees in Sociology and Criminology/Criminal Justice and Bachelor's degrees in Anthropology. Serving 600
undergraduate majors, 300 minors, and 50 graduate students, the faculty is noted for excellent teaching, a strong research
program, and outreach activities with the Southeastern Michigan community. See the EMU Web site at www.emich.edu.
Qualifications include a Ph.D. in sociology, anthropology, criminology, or criminal justice; demonstrated administrative
experience; and scholarly/teaching achievements commensurate with the rank of full professor. Necessary skills include
budget and personnel management; program development and review; intercultural sensitivity; and the ability to work in
a collective bargaining environment. Candidate should also be able to motivate and lead faculty across all disciplines
represented by the department in teaching, scholarship, and service.
