Gail
Hamilton coordinates the Union Skills and Strategy
program. Her teaching focuses on issues of diversity, workplace rights,
steward training, the Family Medical Leave Act, and labor law. Prior
to coming to the Labor Studies Center, Gayle was Director of the Legal
Department for the SEIU Local 79 where she represented the union during
arbitration and NLRB hearings as well as during contract bargaining
sessions. She also has experience in human resource management. Gayle
obtained her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Detroit
Mercy School of Law.
David
Reynolds coordinates the Labor School. He has worked both
as a union organizer and labor journalist for the UAW. His current
research focuses
on strategies to build labor power at a regional level. Reynolds produced
an activist's handbook for organizing local living wage campaigns that
is now in its fourth printing. His recent books Taking the High
Road: Communities Organize for Economic Change and Partnering
for Change are available from M.E. Sharpe.
Hal
Stack directs the Labor Studies Center and its undergraduate
bachelor's degree program. His teaching and research interests focus
on improving
union management and administration, designing and implementing joint
labor-management programs, and the impact of organizational restructuring
on labor relations and work organization. .
