Workplace Health & Safety


Welcome to the Labor Studies Center’s health andsafety page. This page helps connect workers, union members, and activists to health and safety resources.

GOVERNMENT LINKS


US Department of Labor -- The Bureau of Labor Statistics annually reports on workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities.

OSHA -- OSHA's mission is to assure the safety & health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach, and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health.


MIOSHA -- The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration helps assure the safety and health of Michigan workers. Consultation, education and training, enforcement, standards, cooperative agreements with employers, employees, and employer organizations


NIOSH -- The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health is the federal agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related injury and illness.


Center for Disease Control & Prevention -- The Center has extensive data on public health issues. Extensive safety and health links.


Chemical Safety and Health Investigation Board -- CSB activites and links to chemical incident reports and investigations.

 

COSH GROUPS


COSH groups are private, non-profit coalitions of labor unions, health and technical professionals, and others interested in promoting and advocating for worker health and safety. If you don’t see a COSH group in your area, check the NATIONAL COSH website for local COSH groups.

MASSCOSH -- Massachusetts Coalition on Occupational Safety and Health
