On-site Classes for Union Members

Some unions are far removed from the Wayne State campus; some have large numbers of new members or recently elected officers; some have training needs that require a special focus; and some want to build a local education program with classes their members can attend in the union hall.

The Labor Studies Center can develop education programs that address these needs at on-site locations-- the union hall, the worksite, or whatever location is convenient. The content of our programs can be amended to incorporate local issues, and the formats can be stretched or compressed to accommodate local schedules.

Contact: Gayle Hamilton 313.577.2191 or av6012@wayne.edu; or click here to tell us what programing you need.

Union Awareness

This program presents the values, history, and current issues of the labor movement in a format tailored to the needs of your local union. The instructor's presentations are combined with video, slides, group exercises, and class discussion in a program that can vary from one-day seminars to week-long programs. Content can also be modified to incorporate the industry and union history of your workplace. While presented from a union viewpoint, this program is also appropriate for jointly funded education programs. For additional information on the cost, availability, and content of this program, contact David Reynolds at 313.577.2191 or aa2589@wayne.edu.
